DW Fox Tucker Partner John Tucker recently hosted some of SA’s most enduring business personalities at a gourmet lunch to benefit the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation (WCHF).
Long regarded as among the nation’s top tier of taxation lawyers, John donated $5,000 to the WCHF for the right to host the February 6 function, which featured a mouth watering menu generously prepared pro bono by celebrity chefs Andre Ursini and Michael Weldon. Premium wines were also donated by Revenir Winemaking’s Peter Leske.
Among the guests in the DW Fox Tucker boardroom were Bellis Fruit Bars co-Director and WCHF Chair Nick Begakis AO, former Rowe & Jarman co-owner Ed Betro, SA wine industry luminary Mark Swann, Greenwheat Freekeh Managing Director Tony Lutfi, corporate advisor and former Deloitte Partner and Rib Loc Group Chair Peter Buttery, BDO Executive Consultant and Adelaide Crows board member John Sutton, Global Intertrade Managing Director Manuel Ortigosa, Merchant Accounting Partners Partner Harold Tomblin and Weinert Group Secretary Ron Brumby.
With a seat at the table, but unable to attend, were Property Council of Australia Hall of Fame Member Gerry Karidis AM, former owner of Ray’s Outdoors Ray Frost, and Sydney property developer and former Sydney Swans co-owner Peter Weinert.
According to John, although the lunch was first and foremost a fundraiser for the WCHF, it was also a fantastic opportunity to thank some “very important individuals” for their continuing professional support and confidence.
“These people have all shown a huge amount of faith in me,” he said. “I’ve overseen many major transactions for them over the years, including the sale of Rowe & Jarman for Ed, Rib Loc for Peter and Ray’s Outdoors for Ray, along with several large property acquisitions for Gerry.
“So it was nice to be able to say ‘thankyou’ in a way that also provided genuine benefit for the Women’s and Children’s.”
John leads the DW Fox Tucker Taxation team and is a life member and former National President of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
