The Australian Financial Review has announced the 2022 Best Lawyers Awards, and DW Fox Tucker is delighted to confirm that, for another year running, our presence in the listings has grown once again.
We offer special congratulations to Natalie Thomas, who appears for the first time on the list and increases DW Fox Tucker’s solid representation in the Commercial Law category – Natalie is our third commercial law professional to be recognised among the country’s best. Before moving into private practice, Natalie was highly regarded as an in-house counsel for large corporate and government entities, and we can see why! We’re very proud to have her as part of our team.
With the inaugural appearance of a new “Ones to Watch” category – designed to keep an eye on those up and coming lawyers in the first three to eight years of their career – we are also very excited to announce two members of our team have been recognised for their tireless efforts assisting our clients during the past 12 months. Jack Davis was recognised for his work in Litigation, and Alice Lynch was called out for her performance in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Insolvency and Reorganisation Law. It is a great honour to be recognised so early in their careers, and we look forward to watching their growth in the years to come.
Milestones galore for DW Fox Tucker’s usual suspects at the Best Lawyers Awards
This year was also a time to celebrate milestones for DW Fox Tucker stalwarts of the awards, with Brett Thorneycroft marking his 15th year on the list, John Tucker, Ben Duggan and Alastair Donaldson notching up 10 years, and Briony Hutchens and John Walsh marking their 5th consecutive appearance.
Achieving a Best Lawyers listing is a special honour, even for the largest firms in the land. Unlike many promotional award events, the winners are not chosen by panels of industry insiders or vested interests. The AFR voting pool is comprised of other previously nominated lawyers, and they are asked one simple question:
“If you are unable to take a case, who would you refer in your place?”
They answer by grading nominees on a rating between 1 to 5 – with 5 being “definitely would refer” and 1 meaning they “would not refer” - and responses are aggregated to show the most favoured practitioner in each legal discipline.
To be recognised by their esteemed peers year after year demonstrates their commitment to the pursuit of excellence - always striving to meet the highest possible standards for their clients.
Our expanding band of “Best Lawyers” and “Ones to Watch”
DW Fox Tucker is incredibly proud to have such a large presence in the current Best Lawyers listing across so many legal disciplines.
